Kamau moved to America and continued to pursue his dream of becoming a professional singer. While working in Manhattan (New York), Kamau met Doo Wop legend, Joe Rivers. They worked for the same company and became good friends. When Joe found out that Kamau was a singer, he quickly introduced him to Doo Wop. They sang (harmonized) every chance they got. This went on for about a year. Joe once said the following of Kamau... "I've listened to, and worked with, enough singers to know that this kid is going to experience greatness. His voice is uncommon. Just incredible."
Kamau's dream of becoming a professional singer was ultimately replaced by a passion. Kamau was exposed to health and fitness at an early age. He began studying yoga and the martial arts while in his early teens. By the age of twenty one he was already a teacher. His craving for knowledge and self mastery directed him on a path that led -ultimately- to the creation of the system we know today as Tiririka.
Creating and propagating the system of Tiririka was no easy task. It left Kamau with little time to pursue (in a serious manner) his singing. He did manage, however, to do a little at specially selected karaoke clubs and at special functions.
Over the years, many people tried to persuade Kamau to return to singing, but he was much too preoccupied with the propagation of Tiririka to accommodate their efforts. He finally - at the suggestion of his sister Margaret and two friends, Edmond Simon and Laviston Joseph (a.k.a. Stevie) - returned to the path he had left some years before.
Today, Kamau is as dynamic and powerful a performer as he was before. In some ways, he is even better. His voice is still amazing and his presence and performance reflect his years of preparation and the vastness of his experience.
